Dean's Challenge | And the Winners Are...


In March, when we first posted our latest Dean's Challenge, Welcome to the Revolution, we had no idea how amazing of a student response we would obtain. Selecting just four winners was no simple task. All of the submissions demonstrated. incredible insight, creativity, and initiative.

  • First Place winners, each receiving $1,000, are Jonathan Davidson and Jee (Koreman) Lee

$1,000 Scholarship | Welcome to the Revolution!

Students in the School of Business Assembly received a unique challenge from the Dean today. Undergraduate Scholarships | Up to $5,000

Scholarships from $500 to $5,000 are now available to qualifying undergraduate students at La Sierra University. Special thanks to Student Financial Services for providing us with the following information.

This application will be used by the Awards and Scholarship Committee to assist in the selection of endowment scholarship recipients. Only Undergraduate Students are eligible to apply. Qualifying students must meet minimum academic and financial aid requirements to be eligible for certain scholarships. The scholarship awards may range from $500 to $5,000 and will be presented at the Awards Ceremony on May 24, 2011, along with awards and scholarships distributed by academic departments. Click Here to Submit an ApplicationThe deadline for this application is March 2, 2011 at 5 pm.

Humane Studies Fellowship

Students, please note this opportunity from the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University. If you are interested in liberty-advancing careers and/or research, you will certainly want to apply before the December 31 deadline.

Humane Studies Fellowships are awarded to graduate students and outstanding undergraduates planning academic careers and engaged in liberty-advancing research. The fellowships support students in variety of fields, such as economics, philosophy, law, political science, history, and sociology.

Awards range from $2,000 to $15,000 and fellowship winners may re-apply for each year of their studies. In 2010, the Institute for Humane Studies awarded more than $650,000 to 180 students.

The program is open to full-time graduate students, including law and MBA students, and undergraduate juniors and seniors with a demonstrated intent to pursue an academic career.

Daniel B. Goldberg Graduate Scholarship | $10,000

The Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship of $10,000 is available for award to a graduate student who is enrolled in full-time master’s study preparing for a career in state and local government finance. The winner of the
scholarship is invited to attend the GFOA’s annual conference, where the award is presented. This scholarship is funded by the Girard Miller Foundation.

Eligibility:
  • Currently a full-time student in a graduate program that prepares students for careers in state and local government finance and expecting to be enrolled in the spring semester of the year for which the scholarship is awarded (including graduates of that spring semester).
  • Baccalaureate degree or its equivalent.
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
  • Recommendation from student’s academic advisor or dean of the graduate pro-gram.
  • Student has not been a past winner of a scholarship administered by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship | $5000

The GFOA’s Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship of $5,000 is available for award to one or more undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in full-time study preparing for a career in state and local government finance. The winner of the scholarship is invited to attend the GFOA’s annual conference, where the award is presented. This scholarship is funded by the Government Finance Officers Association.

Eligibility:
  • Currently a full-time student in an accounting program who is preparing for a career in state and local government finance. Both advanced undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
  • Recommendation by student's academic advisor or the chair of the accounting program.
  • Student has not been a past winner of a scholarship administered by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

Minorities in Government Scholarship | $5000

The GFOA’s Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship of $5,000 is available for award to an upper-division undergraduate or graduate student of public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science, economics, or business administration (with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management). The purpose of the Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship is to recognize outstanding performance by minority students preparing for careers in state and local government finance. The winner of the scholarship is invited to attend the GFOA’s annual conference, where the award is presented. This scholarship is funded by Siemens.

Eligibility:
  • Currently a full- or part-time upper-division undergraduate or graduate student in public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science, economics or business administration (with a specific focus on government or non-profit management).
  • Belong to one of the following groups (as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau): Black or African American, American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino.
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
  • Recommendation by student’s academic advisor, department chair (undergraduate students), or dean of the graduate program (graduate students).
  • Student has not been a past winner of a scholarship administered by the Government
